HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!
This day marks the beginning of my favorite season of the year, and I love it for all the anticipation it brings. It’s the day where I really dive into mentally planning for all the warm days ahead. We have a whole summer ahead of us, after all. There’s so much possibility!
What should we do?! Where do we want to go?! Who and what do we want to see?! How should we spend these precious days?! I make a list, check it twice, and then add more to it because WHY NOT IT’S SUMMER. This season is what bucket lists are made for.
In terms of summer plans, are you someone who tries to simplify? Or are you a “let’s fill every minute” person who has things lined up for every day? I’m the latter, for better or worse. I always feel like I do a good job living up these warm days to the fullest, but my tendency to do a lot does tire me out sometimes. I made sure to add “Chill days” to my round up of summer things to do, for good measure.
One thing is certain: This weather makes me so haaaaapppy!!!
What’s on your summer bucket list? Here’s mine!
- Visit up north Michigan. (Perhaps a Mackinac Island trip?!)
- Spend a week on Lake Michigan (My family goes every year!)
- Spend a weekend in Chicago
- See fireworks over the Detroit skyline
- Have a water balloon fight
- Go to 3 – 5 summer concerts
- Take Grace and Jo to their first mini golf outing
- Be on the lake as much as possible!
- Run down the sand dunes of Lake Michigan
- Hang bistro lights on our porch
- Eat every meal possible outside
- Attend a Tiger’s baseball game
- Catch fireflies
- Cruise around downtown Detroit on a boat
- Try a new Detroit-based food truck
- Host a family game night outdoors
- Go camping
- Hike
- Visit a petting farm
- Go on a road trip to somewhere unexpected
- Go strawberry or blueberry picking
I’d be remise not to mention today is also National Stripes Day! There’s nothing that says summer quite like some stripes, right?! My parents gave me a gift certificate to Banana Republic for my birthday, and as soon as I walked into the store I said, “YES!” to this dress. White and navy stripes, soft ribbed knit, and sleeveless for warm days, and under $100. What’s not to love?! I wore it paired with another purchase from that birthday shopping trip, this woven belt, and the look was perfectly on point for a 75-and-sunny day.
