In this last post of Wedding Week, I wrap up the tale of our wedding day the exact way that it ended: With endless dancing.
Immediately following the ceremony guests headed to the outdoor patio, which neighbored the ceremony area and reception tent, for cocktails and appetizers. Because we did most of our formal photos prior, Doug and I got to mingle with guests and enjoy the scenery, which was a wonderful way to say hi to those that we hadn’t gotten a chance to the night prior.
Besides the delicious food, one of my favorite parts about the patio area was the drink station set up by the venue. They made a table out of two wine barrels hosting a rustic door, which was an adorable add-on to the details & DIY wedding decorations that awaited everyone in the reception tent.
Once everyone was seated, dinner was served. My dad opened the evening with a speech that was focused on all the amazing people who’ve been influential in Doug and my’s life, and my step-dad gave a toast prior to everyone starting to eat. Next up for speeches were my co-maids of honor, Jessie and Katie, who included hysterical high school memories as well as fun #Emiloug memories. Chris, Doug’s brother and best man, knocked it out of the park when he closed out the speeches with a standing ovation and {I’m not exaggerating} not a dry eye at the reception.
All the speeches were so sweet, emotional, funny, and kind . They’re always one of my favorite parts of any wedding, but when it’s your own wedding, it’s truly the most special feeling.
All in all, it was an absolute blast that included plenty of this….
…and a whoooole lot of this. <3
