Whelp, that was a whirlwind. It feels like stepping off the plane into the DC airport happened a minute ago, and all of a sudden I’m back in Chicago looking through pictures of our weekend getaway. It always amazes me how fast trips go by. Perhaps that’s a true indication that you needed one?
Being in Washington D.C. over Memorial Day weekend was humbling. We saw all the big sights – World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Washington Monument – among veterans and fallen-soldier family members, which was a truly touching experience. Reflecting at the memorials makes you think of all those who have sacrificed so much for our country and the freedoms that we have today. It’s so easy to take this for granted so I was happy to have a reminder of gratitude for all our military men & women, both past and present, who’ve dedicated themselves to service.
Washington D.C. has a ton of adorable towns surrounding it, one of which is Georgetown. It’s filled with cobblestone streets, boutiques, cozy cafes and restaurants & of course Georgetown University, which literally resembles Hogwarts. (Yup – definitely just dropped a Harry Potter reference) Charming, to say the least!
How was your Memorial Day weekend? What all did you do?
A huge congrats to my good friends Kristen & Chris, who got engaged! I’m so, so excited for you both and can’t wait for all the wedding festivities to come. xo

Oh I love Georgetown! It really is the cutest little town. Great photos!
Looks like you had a great weekend in DC! I haven’t been there since I was in middle school, and I know I’d appreciate it even more now than I did that. PS – I’m picking up what you are putting down with the HP reference. Definitely need to check out Hogwarts (I mean Georgetown) on my next trip to the South.
