Gorgeous Fall Trader Joe’s Flower Arrangements
5 tips for creating easy, beautiful, and inexpensive Trader Joe’s floral arrangements
Use Your Eye To Coordinate Color Choices
This is my biggest piece of advice when choosing flowers for your bouquet. Are you looking for a monochromatic bouquet? One that’s perhaps season-agnostic? Or one that really embraces the fall season? Determining that from the upfront will help you choose flowers that help to make your bouquet visually cohesive.
I personally love to do a two-color theme. For example, in the pictures provided, I went with a white rose paired with pink filler flowers for one bouquet, which is something great for year-round, and shades of red paired with neutrals for the others, which definitely leans into fall more.
The flower variety and types change throughout the year at Trader Joe’s, so I find it most helpful to use my eye and plan around colors instead of specific types of flowers.
Incorporate Greenery
There’s no bouquet that isn’t made more lush and robust with some greenery. Greens are great because they look amazing as a filler with flowers, and also in a vase on its own! No matter what color or variety of flowers, greens are one of those bouquet elements that just work.
I like to mix greens, such as eucalyptus and ruscus, to create a lot of variety within the bouquet!
Choose a vase fit for the type of bouquet you want
Once you pick the greenery and flowers you’d like to use, it’s time to pick your vase! I like to pull out a few different colored/shaped vases and do multiple arrangements at once. I choose which arrangements I feel fit best in each vase, and have fun with going one by one, arranging the flowers how I think they look best.
The vases you put your Trader Joe’s flower arrangements in are underrated when it comes to creating bouquets, in my opinion. For example, a smaller vase with a wide top will help to easily create a robust floral overhang, whereas a vase with a narrow opening will create a look that’s more upright. It’s important to consider the vase in tandem with the type of flowers you’re arranging to ensure it all looks nice and cohesive!
Be sure to properly prep your flowers before putting them into the vase
A definite must-do for any bouquet!
Start by cutting any loose leaves off of each flower so the stems are nice and clean looking. Next, cut the stem to the length that fits your vase at an angle before placing it in the vase. Cutting the stem helps to elongate the life of the flower and also helps to ensure it’s the proper size for the vase.
And speaking of the right size, the rule of thumb for arrangements is that the length of the stems shouldn’t be more than one and a half to two times the height of a vase. I personally love when there’s a variety of heights, so I am sure not to uniformly cut the florals and greenery to one size!
Have fun with arranging!
Again, just your eye! If there’s lots of one color, break it up. If there’s lots of one length, make sure to add some variety. Use filler greenery and florals to your advantage! I’m of the belief that not matter what flowers are in a bouquet, you can’t go wrong. But there are certainly ways to make a bouquet go really right, and using your eye is the best way to do this.
One strategy I use is to start placing flowers into the vase one by one at an angle criss-crossing the stems until the vase looks nice and full! Don’t forget to leverage your greenery to add some depth and liven up the arrangement.
Em quickly chiming in for added input! I followed the above steps, and created the below arrangements. Love how these turned out! It’s also super interesting to see how different vases bring a whole new look to the same bouquet. I also love that I made ALL these bouquets for under $20 by shopping at Trader Joe’s. The filler flowers were about $2.99 each!
