3 words to describe Savannah, Georgia. Ready….go!
Quaint, Historical, Scenic.
Those are my three words. Truly, Savannah is a picturesque dream, especially if you’re like me and love a mix of history and adventure.
I took a weekend trip to Savannah last October with my girlfriends. 2018 was the start of an annual girl’s trip that my girlfriends and I are doing — you can find all the details in this post — but the nuts and bolts are that every year we’re doing a trip together in October, and every year someone different plans the trip. I was the organizer of trip #1, and I chose Savannah for many reasons, primarily because I loved Charleston and I’d heard Savannah was similar.
Alright, so, what’d we do while there? I’m pretty certain we made it to the best of the best! It was a jam-packed weekend that was a great mix of getting to know the city and being together. Here’s a list of the top things I’d recommend.
Top Things To Do In Savannah, Georgia
Take a slow, long walk through Forsyth Park. Perhaps even grab a picnic blanket and read a book for a bit. This is one of Savannah’s most famous parks, and for good reason. It’s filled with fountains, artists, and monuments to admire. (This is the park where Forest Gump famously sat with a box of chocolates!)
Go on a hop on/hop off tour bus.
It’s a great way to get a feel for the city! We did the Old Savannah On/Off Tour Bus – I loved the casual feel of the trolley!
Go on a walking ghost tour.
We chose a Haunted Pub Crawl — very fitting because it was close to Halloween when we went — and it was awesome. (And, yes, a little creepy! The city has a lot of stories and history.)
Shop on Broughton Street, and walk around the Riverwalk and City Market.
All are great! My favorite shop that I went to was The Paris Market — an adorable shop filled with unique finds.
Walk around was River Street.
Here, we got to take in views of the river, and we ate at the coolest rooftop bar at The Bohemian. The views from that rooftop are STUNNING. Definitely go there! (Pics below are all from The Bohemian rooftop, where we watched the sunset.)
An absolute “Must” is to eat at the Old Pink House.
It’s an old mansion that has been converted into a restaurant; the food is fantastic and the setting is gorgeous. Also, it’s definitely haunted; there’s a super cool, old cellar bar where you can just feel it.
Watch the sunset at the The Wyld Dock Bar.
It’s a bit of a drive — about 20 minutes from the city — but so worth it. It’s a casual dock bar overlooking a beautiful, peaceful waterfront. This was our final dinner of the trip, and where we drew the name for who’s planning our girl’s trip in 2019! Great food and drinks, and a cool atmosphere.
Next up to plan the 2019 girl’s trip is Kristen! She’s revealing the trip destination in March. Any guesses on where we’re going?? We’ve guessed Napa Valley and Florida, but she’s assured us we’re no where close to guessing. We can’t wait!

ME TOO!!!!!
Font is way too light. Looks like it would have been a great article. Any chance of changing it and letting me know so I can read it. Thank you.
This is such a cool idea! Impressed at the amount of coordination this takes.
You girls are fabulous! I fell in love with Savannah the moment I stepped into that incredible city. I always prefer visiting during spring or fall, the beautiful azalea flowers start to bloom, and many festivals take over the city. I will be back by next year and began my bucket list of things to do in savannah ga. I always keep myself updated through https://www.visitsavannah.com/things-to-do.
Looking for places to visit there? To Those of you who are looking for a great dining experience over at Savannah GA, try checking on the Pink House here, https://www.visitsavannah.com/article/why-the-olde-pink-house-pink , surely you will thank me!
This fantastic list of things to do in Savannah GA perfectly covers all you can do while visiting! Years ago, before I started this blog, I went to https://visittybee.com/list/must-do-tybee-island-activities-for-first-time-visitors for their list, which is quite similar to these, so reading this was like walking down memory lane!
