Happy Spring!
We made it, guys. March 20 is the start of spring, which means winter is officially over. Not that the Midwest won’t have the usual snow fall in April, mind you, but every one from here on out will be met with wonders of, “Was that the last one?!” Which makes them bearable. Right?!
The start of spring always feels like an awakening.
Everything starts blooming. Green emerges. (Brown is everywhere in Michigan and I’m like….blah.) I’m typing this early in the morning, and I can hear the birds chirping. The beginning of winter is a time of reflection and preparation, but the start of spring is the time of year when I really feel like everything comes alive. A fresh start.
In terms of a personal awakening, I’ve decided to go at this new season with my intentions clear and focused. So, here we go.
This is my season for GROWTH THROUGH CONSISTENCY. I was recently listening to a Rachel Hollis podcast interview where a key takeaway was that consistency compounds. Meaning that if you want something, it’s important to stay consistent and in the game, even when you feel like you may not be getting anywhere. The people who do this are the ones who come out on top.
For me, this particularly applies through building my blog. Even after I quit my job to dive into building my business, my blog has very much been a side hustle as I focused on creative consulting. But I’m discovering more and more that writing, photography, and blogging is where my creative passion lies, and where I see so much growth potential! I’ll always still consult – I LOVE the clients I’ve worked with and projects done over the past few months – but it’s time to also start really being consistent, focused, and letting all the creative juices flow for my OWN brand as well.
So there you have it, universe. My intentions for this season of the year, and life, are out there. Here’s to working together to make it happen. 😉
But beyond my personal intentions for this season, there’s a lot of amazing things on the horizon! I thought I’d put together a list of spring-related things that are making me all sorts of excited.
From big things to the small, below is a list of 25 things I’m looking forward to this spring. (In no particular order!)
- Spring cleaning. I want to KonMari and organize everything. Especially now that we’ve been here for months and have a good idea of what we’re using/what we’re not in our new home!
- Planting my first garden. We have a little nook behind our garage that would be perfect for all sorts of plants and flowers! (Should I even go big and plant some veggies?!)
- Beach time while on our family trip to FLORIDA in April! Can’t. Wait. For. Sunshine.
- My friend Lauren’s wedding in Austin, Texas. I’ve never been! (Any recos?)
- Sitting in our sunroom during a cozy thunderstorm.
- Finally completing our house! The outside has been half done all winter. Actually, same as the inside decor. (Ha!) Time to wrap it up. [Read: Before and After Photos of Our Home Renovation + Some Boho-Inspired Decor Items We’re Loving]
- Being able to play outside in our backyard with Grace and Jo. Moving in the end of October meant cold temperatures have been our normal here and we haven’t gotten to really explore our outdoors very much!
- Running outside.
- I really want to see cherry trees blooming in Traverse City in May.
- Celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary in the beginning of June! Doug and I are planning a trip to Greece to celebrate. (AHH!!)
- Visiting the Cranbrook Gardens while all the flowers and trees are in bloom.
- Going to Tulip Time in Holland for a weekend.
- Embracing the longer days that begin in the start of spring.
- Taking looong walks with our family.
- Exploring all the parks in our area that we’ve never been to. I want to do a “metro Detroit park tour” with the girls.
- Hosting my best friend’s baby shower. She’s having twins!
- Launching my website redesign. (Wink, wink!)
- Visiting Belle Isle while all the trees are in bloom.
- Refocusing my business priorities. Something I believe in doing regularly!
- Teaching Grace to ride her bike. Starting potty training with Jo. (She’s ready!)
- Matching raincoats with Grace and Jo. (I’m cheesy, but really, HOW CUTE?!)
- Local farmer’s markets.
- Visiting the Detroit Zoo when it’s warm.
- Not wearing socks. (Byeeee)
- White pants on repeat. And Converse sneakers.

Great idea – I for sure will! Thanks so much, Caitlin!
Hey Emily!
Thanks for all of the tips! I’m a newbie blogger, and am curious, how do people get ad placements on their site? You know where if I viewed your blog, things I’m interested in would show on the sidebar. If I click/purchase, you would get commission. Google has been no help.
Thanks so much!
