Doug and I are hosting Thanksgiving this year for the first time ever!
I always thought that it’d be overwhelming and too much work, but I’m surprising myself and finding it all so much fun to plan. It’s scratching a creative bone to be planning the Thanksgiving table decor table, food pairings, and all the elements that go into the day. We want to make it perfect for everyone joining! Which, of course, is something that’s all about the company. But still! Details matter and show you care.
In typical Doug/Emily style, Doug has been all about the food, and I’ve been all about the decor and aesthetic. In my quest for planning the ideal table and set up, I’ve found some amazing ideas for table setting and Thanksgiving decor. I thought I’d share some of my favorite ones with you!

This setting from Rooms for Rent is a great mix of simple and layers.
I really love the pops of metallic paired with the simple white tablecloth and plates. It’s pulled together but minimalistic!

Pops of pink and pineapples aren’t immediately what comes to mind when one thinks of a Thanksgiving dinner, but I really love the style of this! It’s fun, a bit whimsical, and vibrant. Just the way life should be, no?!

I love that this table setting is minimal, yet has fun with pops of blue, green and metallic. So pretty and calming!
Alright, so, this is technically a summer-themed party!
But I’ve seen some citrus-themed Thanksgiving table set ups across the web and think this is such a fun and different approach. You tie in tomatoes, grapes, grapefruit, small pumpkins, etc. for a really vibrant setting. (Another inspiration image is here!) I love how colorful it is, and that most things on the setting is edible!
A pop of plaid during the fall and winter months is never a bad idea!

What We’re Planning on Doing for Our Decor
Alright! Now that you’ve seen some of our main inspiration images, here’s what we’re planning on doing for our Thanksgiving table decor.
We’re taking some elements of all the above, but mainly the citrus-themed table, for our table setting. Our own little twist – pun intended – if you will!
We’re planning on having fruits, mainly citrus, as the main setting in the middle. Oranges, lemons, grapefruits, pomegranates, grapes, and apples. We’ll also tie in some greenery, tomatoes and pumpkins, to ensure that “fall” really comes through and is tied in! For the plates, we’re looking into one of two options: Either leveraging the plates we currently own, which are blue, or getting some white ones. I’ve been eyeing these gold silverware settings, which are an amazing price! I’ve always wanted gold settings and this is the perfect excuse to grab some.
