If Marilyn Monroe was alive today, do you think she’d be a sneakers girl? I’m inclined to think the answer is a “Yeah, duh”, but perhaps that’s wishful thinking because the skirt flip she made so popular looks so fun with them?
At any rate, I wanted to share an easy sneakers and skirt outfit combination that I’m not-so-low-key crushing on lately. It’s perfect for warm summer days, especially ones where you want to be comfortable. (Read: Days with my kiddos and errand days!) Ready for the recipe?
Sneakers + Midi Skirt + T-Shirt tied at the waist = BOOM
Voila! Easy, peasy.
Let’s do a deep dive, shall we?
Sneakers :: Here I’m wearing my white Converse low top sneaks, but I’ve also done this combination with my VEJAs. You can also try black high-top Converse sneakers, which bring a more “edgy” and low key look. Feel out what color and style sneakers look best with your outfit. You really can’t go wrong – all are adorable!
Midi skirt :: I personally prefer fabrics with a little flow, especially on hot days. My skirt is a few years old, but here are some that are similar and would look adorable with this combination: Madewell Button Front Midi + ASOS Pleated Midi + Reformation Highland Skirt + Ted Baker Stripe Pleat Skirt + Club Monaco Pleated Midi
Tee :: “Ciao”, baby! From graphic tees to a plain white tee, these bring a nice and relaxed, but fashion-forward, vibe to an outfit. With a midi skirt specifically, I prefer to define the waistline a bit more, so I usually wear my tees tied at the waist. Just makes the look a bit more intentional (and in my opinion is more flattering) than tucking the t-shirt in! Here are some great t-shirt options that are similar to the “Ciao” option I have on: “Femme” + “Dreamer” + “Bon Voyage” + “Love Your Mother” + “Love”
Headband :: A little pop of leopard can go a long way for an outfit! I love that headbands are making a big comeback lately.
