Snakeskin Boots: The Latest Fashion Craze
I’m not one to live and breathe by the “latest fashion trends” or “What’s super hot right now”. Mainly because trends can be fickle and I believe in harnessing personal style. But, when there’s one as good as snakeskin boots, and that I see true longevity in, I’m all on board!
Snakeskin burst into the scenes with a passion last year. The pattern was hugely popular in the fall, particularly with shoes, and I’ve been excited to see it carry into the spring as well. In fact, it was labeled as the most popular shoe trend coming out of New York Fashion Week. It’s definitely one that you can expect to continue throughout the year — as an adorning print on summer sandals, and back to boots again in the fall and winter.
What’s the craze all about with sssssnakeskin?
Ssssee what I did there? 😉
Snakeskin print is kind of like a beautiful, sassy red lipstick. Attention? It’s a given. Boldness? You own it. But all in a way that’s super cool and chic. You’re trying, but not too hard. Get what I mean? Overall, it’s a very confident print, yet it’s almost a neutral. It’s less “in your face” than leopard print, but more “I’m here” than a solid color like black or white.
But wearing snakeskin is a little intimidating, no?
I totally get it. When I bought these snakeskin boots (Under $100!), I admittedly was like, “Can I? And, should I?” Answer: Yes and yes. It’s bold, but that’s what makes it fun! Which getting dressed should be.
Here are some key suggestions on how to wear the print. Both of these work, it all just depends on your comfort level, which I’d prefaced prior to each suggestion below!
If you are slightly intimidated by the print and want to take baby steps, I’d recommend….
Wear Your Snakeskin Print With Neutrals, But Mix Up Your Textures.
That’s how I styled the look shown in these photos. I paired a classic white button down (Currently 30% off!) and faux leather pleated skirt (Under $50!) with my over the knee boots. With the combination, I wore my white and black Henri Bendel satchel purse (Will this be priceless in the coming years since they’ve since closed?! I think so!) and kept my accessories to simple gold accents. The result was a chic statement!
Other neutrals that work well are denim, whites, blacks, and tans. Even blush can be paired for a feminine and soft tie in – I adore this color with snakeskin because of the soft juxtaposition the color brings! To help bring these ways to wear the print to life, some additional visual examples of wearing snakeskin as an accent to neutrals are below.
If you’re loving the look, feel confident, and want to go all in on a bold combination, I’d recommend….
Wear Your Snakeskin AS A Neutral.
This print can surprisingly anchor an outfit really well. Think of it literally — a snake naturally is able to blend in with many environments. Browns, whites, tans, and blacks are common and often combined. All neutral colors!
With this route, you can really have some fun. Pair snakeskin with other prints, such as leopard. Go all in on saturation and pair the print with bold, bright colors. Embrace the vacation vibe and wear it with palm leaf prints or florals. There are, quite literally, not many rules when going this route, so long as you’re wearing the look with confidence.
Check out the below styles for how these pairings can visually come to life. Beautiful, right?!
See how versatile and fun this print is?!
I’m excited about snakeskin because it’s similar to leopard, which I love, in that it’s a classic print that really will never go out of style. So if you’re looking for a trend to invest in, this is it!
Here are some fun snakeskin boot, shoes & accessory options to shop now! Most of these items are under $100, so there’s no excuse not to dive into the look!
