Our DIY Dresser Paint Makeover For Baby Boy’s Nursery
May I Present: Baby Boy’s Newly-Transformed Dresser!
We. Love. It. It’s bright, bold, and the perfect pop of color for his nursery. Best, not only was the actual application of the paint for this DIY dresser paint makeover super easy, but I am so impressed with the quality of the end result! More on those details below.
First, let’s chat the process and color! If you follow along on Instagram, you may recall that I crowd-sourced this one. I was deciding between four paint colors, which are all shown below, and “Mayan Treasure” was the clear winner. I love that you all pushed me to do this, because honestly I was personally swaying toward standard white or the more muted “Inked” option. But when “Mayan Treasure” won, Doug and I said, “Let’s do this thing” and didn’t look back!
Here’s The “Before” Of The Dresser
Here Were The Behr Spray Paint Options + The Winner
The actual paint job was super simple and easy.
We’ve done a lot of DIY projects, many of which have included paint, and I’ve got to say that we were particularly impressed with how this spray paint adhered to the surface! A lot of other paints have taken forever to dry, is almost “Goopy” sometimes, then scratches easily far too easily once it does dry. Our experience with Behr Spray Paint was pretty much the exact opposite! We sprayed a few coats, and voila! Beautiful coverage, great adherence, and a vibrant color. I think the entire project took an hour, max. (We did let it dry/air out for a few days after painting, though!)
Swing by this post on Instagram to check out lots of behind-the-scenes video of the process and job. We also talk about what Doug’s “artist name” should be, so there’s that. 😉
A few more notes about this paint, in case you’ve got a DIY project on the brain and are curious! First, there are 20 unique Behr Spray Paint color options available, which you can check out here. It comes with excellent adhesion to wood, metal, plastic and more, and offers up great hide and coverage over new or previously coated surfaces. And, it’s acceptable for both indoor and outdoor use! As a newer product, this will be available at Home Depot’s nationwide soon, but is currently in Detroit, Chicago, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. You guys know I love when things are cost-effective, so I’ve got to add in that each can is only $6. (I think it took us 4 total for this dresser!)

…And there you have it! A fun DIY dresser paint makeover for our sweet baby boy, coming soon. We are knee-deep in finalizing the rest of the nursery, and I can’t wait to share the end nursery with you soon!
What do you think of the transformation!? Are you a vibrant blue lover, or would you have gone with a different color? (I won’t be offended! I also think white or something more neutral would have looked great here, too!)
Huge thanks to Behr for partnering on this project! As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that partner with Isn’t That Charming!

Wondering if you had to coat the final product in order to keep the spray paint from releasing toxins into the air? We’re looking into this product and seems like it might have some not so great ingredients to have living in a baby’s room. Just curious if there’s data on the safety. Thank you!
Hey there! We did not coat the product, but we did have it sit outside for a few days after spraying. Hope that helps!
