When plotting what to pair my new J-Crew Pixie Pants with, I looked to the most likely of inspirational sources, Creative Director Jenna Lyons. As evidenced in the entire J-Crew collection, her strategy is crystal clear: Keep it simple. Whether pattern clashing or uniting classics like a blazer and jeans, Jenna’s looks are always effortlessly sophisticated with an understated edge. The ideal style description, if you ask me.
With black-rimmed glasses in tow, I mimicked fashion’s ultimate cool girl by pairing the pixie pants with a few wardrobe essentials: a Gap denim shirt, black heels and Anthropologie statement earrings. No frills, no fluff. Just the classics.
The saying, “You are what you wear” rang particularly true for me that day. I felt articulate and ready to tackle the world, which is exactly what I envisioned channeling Jenna would be.

Lookin’ Good Emily!! It is chic, sophisticated, and playful!
Standing on the window sill? You live life dangerously, rar!
I like how you broke the outfit down in this post. Restraint can often make as much of an impact as over-the-top outfits, and it ensures YOU continue to shine through.
Fabulous outfit! Loving those pants on you – JCrew pants never fit me right, unfortunately.
Girrrrl, your skin is amazingly flawless in that close up! Jealous. BTW, are you standing in the window in heels?! Be careful! The things we bloggers do in the name of fashion!
