My chain link necklace obsession all started with Gwenyth Paltrow.
I was scrolling through Instagram one day when I saw a photo of her wearing a gold chain link necklace. It was so classic looking — a perfect mix of dainty and feminine — and immediately I was hooked. That moment launched me into my search for a chain link necklace of my own, and since then, I’ve coveted a few!
How to Style A Chain Link Necklace
Throughout the spring, summer, and now fall, I have been known to style a chain link necklace with just about every type of look. I love that you can wear them to elevate everything from a simple t-shirt and jeans look, to a dress. They’re the type of jewelry item that works with pretty much everything! Both chain link necklaces I own are gold, just because I tend to prefer that metal, however there are plenty of silver options as well that are adorable.
Where to buy affordable chain link necklaces
In general, I love these brands for necklaces: Gorjana + Jules Smith + Madewell + Shashi. Swing by those links and scroll their options, I promise you you’ll find something you love! All those brands are frequent go-to’s of mine if I want stylish necklaces that are high quality but won’t break the bank. They also all have great options for mixing and matching.
I personally have the Gorjana Parker Necklace, which is definitely my favorite, and the Jules Smith In Chains necklace, which is a really nice option for if you prefer a chunky style. I love either of those worn on their own or even together.
Speaking of how I style my chain link necklaces! All that leads me to the true nuts and bolts of this post, in which I’m sharing my two favorite ways to style a chain link necklace. These are super easy and nothing groundbreaking, but I promise you they’ll work every time.
My Favorite Ways To Style Chain Link Necklaces
Style Them Layered With Other Necklaces
Styling a chain link necklace with other necklaces is a chic way to wear the look. Layering makes the look more interesting and anything but boring — it gives a nice dimension to the look!
I’ve found that the key to layering is to get necklaces with a variety of lengths. If they’re all the same length, the necklaces will end up laying on top of one another, no doubt blending into one another and inevitably getting tangled.
As I mentioned prior, here are some great brands to browse for necklaces that work nicely to layer: Gorjana + Jules Smith + Madewell + Shashi.
Style Them On Their Own
While I love a well done layer, and the look no doubt adds lots of great interest, there’s something so wonderfully classic about a chain link necklace worn on its own. I have the Gorjana Parker Necklace, and the Jules Smith In Chains necklace, which both are so pretty worn solo. The Gorjana option is nice for a more dainty, feminine look, while the Jules Smith option is great for a bolder statement.
