If you like makeup but aren’t *into* makeup, this post is for you.
What’s the difference, you ask? Well. Let’s give an example: I consider a great coat of mascara a daily essential, and will never turn down a swipe of rosy-tinted lip gloss. But, you won’t find me over here trying to contour my face or giving you a tutorial about how to do a flawless smoky eye. See what I mean?
For one, I’m a bit of a fish out of water when it comes to applying anything besides the basics. Makeup application is a skill set — they’re called makeup artists for a reason! – and I I feel like when I even attempt something more complicated, I often end up looking like a 6-year-old who broke into her mother’s makeup drawer. (Ha! Though, honestly, I need to give Grace more credit here because when she hijacks my eyeshadow, she does a great job!)
But beyond my personal makeup application skill level, a quick routine is usually all I have time for. Having three kids means morning chaos 90% of the time, and the tendency to run late (working on it) means I’ve got to be speedy while getting ready.
So usually, my daily makeup routine is fairly simple and easy. Five minutes, and we’re done. Which is actually very fitting, because I love a beautiful, all-natural look. Especially for everyday wear, I tend to prefer a light makeup routine that is focused on enhancing features without overpowering them.
Today, I’m sharing my favorite everyday clean beauty makeup products with you! This is my tried-and-true routine for an average day. These products give a fresh-faced glow, enhance natural features, protect skin from the sun, and are free of harmful ingredients like parabens, phthalates, and harsh fragrances. Easy, breezy!
My Favorite Everyday Clean Beauty Makeup Products
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer is perfect for anyone who is looking for a product that can help provide a more even skin tone while giving a bit of sheer coverage. With SPF 20, it also is a mineral sunscreen that protects against the sun’s rays, and Vitamin C helps to being radiance. My skin looks noticeably more “dewy” and bright with this on!
Touchup Concealer Pen
After I apply my tinted moisturizer, I’ll often apply a little bit of concealer underneath my eyes to help brighten any dark circles. I also will cover up any blemishes that I may have with concealer. Currently, I use the Beautycounter Touchup Concealer Pen, however sadly it was recently discontinued! (I read it was because of an issue with the applicator and they’re launching a new product in 2022.) In the meantime I recommend Ilia’s True Skin Serum Concealer with Vitamin C or Milk Undereye Brightening Concealer.
Cheeky Clean Cream Blush
Cheeky Clean Cream Blush is easy to apply, goes on smooth, and gives a nice sun-kissed, natural color. Double bonus: this blush can also be used on the lips, or I’ve even used it as eyeshadow, which creates a really beautiful, rosy glow. The color I have is “Bright Rose.”
Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara
If I *had* to choose just one makeup item for the day, the Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara would be it. I love this clean, award-winning mascara, which is saying a lot because I’ve tried so many clean beauty mascaras. This is the best. It lifts lashes, lengthens, and holds. It doesn’t smudge throughout the day, which is the biggest problem I’ve had with other clean beauty mascaras. It’s super easy to apply. Do 2 – 3 coats, and watch your lashes transform!
Brilliant Brow Gel
Brilliant Brow Gel is probably my favorite of all the Beautycounter products! I find that when I wear brow gel, my face is framed nicely and my eyes pop. The Brilliant Brow Gel helps to groom my brows and give them a bit more shape, while giving a nice tint too. It’s flake-proof, foolproof, and easy to use, while giving the appearance of thicker, fuller, natural-looking brows.
Tula Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm
The Tula Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm is like coffee for the eyes. When I apply this hyaluronic acid eye balm, it has this cooling effect which immediately helps my eyes look brighter, more awake, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It also has the glow-enhancing addition of rosewater & rosehip oil (known to be a plant-based retinol alternative). I use this in the morning, and sometimes will re-apply throughout the day!
Brightening Eye Shadow
This is the part of my routine I mix up the most! On an average day, I’ll keep my eyeshadow to a light, barely-there color such as the Lid Glow Cream Shadow in “Gleam – Brightening White Gold.” (Also in that line, I have the “Twinkle” which is lovely for a night out!)
Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lip Gloss
In every purse and stacked in my makeup drawer, you’ll find Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lip Gloss. It helps to nourish my lips, and I love the options with just a bit of color like the “Watermelon” or “Pomegranate” flavors because they provide a really nice, subtle hint of red. I never feel like my lips are sticky or “gunky” with this on (one of my pet peeves is hair getting stuck in my lip gloss!) and I love that it helps my lips to be healthy, too!
