Psst. If you’re antique-obsessed, I have a secret for you.
Rural Wisconsin barns are the place to be.
Last summer while driving back from a Lake Geneva getaway, Doug & I came across multiple barn sales — sans cows — that held hidden gems beyond our belief.
I found this black-iron stove from 1890 (ish). I had just moved into my Chicago studio and desperately needed a TV stand. It was perfect. Better yet, it was $25. (!!!!)
Isn’t the detail gorgeous?
The only caveat was cleaning out Charlotte’s Web & the homes of her extended family. It’s a memory I don’t want to revisit, so I’ll leave you with a fact about me: I’m a loud screamer.

Love that stove and using it as a TV stand was really creative. 🙂

Loving the detail on that wrought-iron stand!!
And I’m with you – spiders are TERRIFYING!! One of my most embarrassing moments is seeing a giant spider in the blueprint room of one of my first jobs, screaming so loud the entire office heard me, and running outside beet red, while crying and laughing at the same time.
I was completely enamored with this black beauty and post, until you mentioned Charlotte and her nasty friends – I visual I can’t get out of my head! LOL! Still an amazing buy!
Have a great weekend!

What a great find! I have wanting to go to estate sales around my area to see what I can find! I am horribly afraid of spiders too!
I am obsessed with finding vintage items and re-purposing into something else. I love that–what a great find! I would probably paint it a matte baby blue–but that would ruin the original iron stove, wouldn’t it?
Thanks for posting!

This post title is just for me because I hang out in an old barn everyday… my house used to be one!
Your new TV stand is a great find – minus the creepy crawlies of course 🙂
