You know those moments when you find a brand that embraces key things that you love + believe in, and it becomes no longer a regular moment but a <clap> *moment* ?
I had one of those recently with MERSEA, a new-to-me brand that is all about being crafted for the journey. Even with that one statement, you can see why I love them, right? MERSEA is all about items that are made for, and totally embraces, travel. When I discovered them on social media recently (Usually I get annoyed of Instagram ads, but in this case, thank youuu), I went down a rabbit hole of exploring their items and was hooked. After trying out some of their items first-hand, I’m excited to be writing a MERSEA review and to be sharing this fun brand with you, too!
First things first: Let’s talk about what they stand for.
Especially as a busy mom of three kiddos with one on the way, I can attest that it’s sometimes hard to see straight and get myself in order, let alone plan a trip or make time for so-called adventures. With the rare exception of big trips like the one Doug and I just had in Hawaii, our adventures are usually found at home! Which is why I love finding a brand that embodies not just the big travel destinations, but the little things that happen on the daily as well. For me, the charm of every day can often be found in moments like walks with the family to get ice cream, jumping in a local #PureMichigan lake, or listening to a summer thunderstorm while curled up with a good book. It’s always fun to pair the journey, no matter where you’re at, with clothing that is both stylish and comfortable! Which is where MERSEA comes in.
MERSEA is made for the journey, but with your journey in mind. Their vibe is very Anthro, but with a more approachable twist. Just looking at things like their flowy dresses, snuggle-worthy sweaters or darling accessories makes it clear that to wear MERSEA is to commit to embracing a feeling of adventure. In fact, I loved the below sweet excerpt written inside of my Catalina Tee.
“Summer is a feeling…like happiness. So, wanter with purpose, dream with abandon, and celebrate the little things in life.”
Makes you want to book that trip, or heck, say “Absolutely!” to that local hometown experience, right?!
Of course, as with all fashion and things we consume, impact is important!
Besides loving what MERSEA stands for, I was impressed to learn that they partner with vendors around the world; each product tells an individual story, all with sustainability and artisanship at the forefront.
In Morocco, they’ve partnered with women in the region of Essaouira to create their Medina Market Bags by hand. In Ecuador, they’ve partnered with a family-run operation to create their signature wraps in which every drop of water is cleaned and reused, and the yarn drying is completed in house. They’re even currently partnering with water.org, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access to safe water and sanitation to the millions affected by the water crisis. Pretty amazing, huh?
Here Are The MERSEA Items I Tried + Definitely Recommend
On our recent trip to Hawaii (look out for a full post of travel recos coming soon!), I brought the MERSEA’s Catalina Slub Tee + Gemini Reversible Tote + Zanzibar Sandals with me.
The clothing MVP of the trip was the Catalina Slub Tee, which was comfortable and the perfect shirt for everyday wear. (Bonus: It’s non-maternity but easily accommodated my pregnant belly!) It’s versatile, too; I wore it paired with shorts while sailing, with leggings while on a hike through a canyon, and even on its own as a beach cover up.
Whenever we went to the beaches, the Gemini Reversible Tote was my side companion! It’s reversible with one side having stripes and the other being a solid, which was nice to mix and match depending on what suit I wore. I was impressed with the size – roomy enough to fit everything I needed for a beach day, yet not *too* big that it was frustrating to lug around. It’s made from washable cotton, so I didn’t worry for a second about sand or the elements!
On the night that we dressed up for dinner, I wore my Zanzibar Sandals. With a double strap across the front, a toe loop, and ankle straps, these sandals felt elevated yet secure. I love that they’re handmade in Morocco with 100% leather, and from craftsmen that have perfected the art of “perfectly imperfect.”
