Top: Scoopneck Stretch Bodysuit in Black. Currently 30% off with code AUTUMN and also comes in navy and blush (I’m seriously considering getting both colors – that’s how much I love this top!) The velvet material is perfect for cooler temperatures — this looks adorable dressed up, or can also be dressed down with simple jeans. | Hair Accessory: Satin Scrunchie with Bow. Super cute, right?! | Pants: Plaid Split Back Trousers from the Who, What, Wear collection. Under $40! | Heels: Black pumps from past season. I’m sipping on my morning brew, listening to John Mayer in the background, and thinking about everything that happened last Thursday when I took these photos. (Big thanks to my tripod & remote timer!)
Do you ever take a moment to just *think*, and are amazed about how hindsight tells a story?
I’ve been trying to do that more lately in efforts to really appreciate the little things.
The hindsight of these photos reminds me that I had a total #GirlBoss moment on the day these were taken. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was about to meet the most amazing team of people who work for a brand that I met with for my consulting business. They’re creative, they work hard, they want to do big things, and they’re kind. It was one of those meetings where I felt energized creatively. Brain churning with ideas. Excited about the possibilities. I walked away with a bit more pep in my step.
And that was when it hit me.
I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Which, as a fresh entrepreneur, I can tell you is a feeling that doesn’t come easily. But for that moment, I can tell you that I felt confident that I’d made the right decision to dive into this less-traveled path.
That this business I believe in perhaps also believes in me.
Sounds cheesy, I know. But you gotta celebrate those moments, especially when going down a path like entrepreneurialism, which I’m learning is a route that can be filled with a lot of questions as I navigate this whole “building-a-business-solo-for-the-first-time” thing.
By the way, I debated even writing that. Because as an entrepreneur aren’t you supposed to be unyieldingly confident and really own the “I’ve got this” status?! Sure. And I do have this. But I think it’s also important to recognize that we’re all human.
Even Beyonce.
So, that’s my little hindsight story for these photos. I wanted to tell you about it because I thought perhaps it could serve as a reminder for you to think about those little wins that made you smile recently as well. Maybe even share them. Because Lord knows we all need a lot more positivity on the daily.
When it comes down to it, if I can leave you with one thing to take away from this post it’s this: Chase the light. And, hey, if you can…be it.
Okay – outfit details!
Can I just say that all working women need these in their lives?! They’re from the Who, What, Wear collection and are under $40. On this day I paired them with black pumps, but I’d also rock these with flats or mules. If you want to go comfy, you could even try these with some Converse Sneakers and a chunky sweater!
On top, I wore my black bodysuit and bow scrunchie that I snagged from the recent J.Crew sale. They’re both actually on sale again — this time 30% off — and I can’t recommend them enough!

love these photos! and the message of course. A very belated welcome back to Michigan and huge congratulations for taking the leap into solo entrepreneurship.
I would love to learn how you use your tripod and remote – I feel like when I previously tried it I had issues with my camera focusing.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome back, Maddy!
That’s a great post idea — writing that down to do in the coming weeks! Will give a full tutorial on how I took these. 🙂
