Thank you for all the sweet words from my big announcement last week. I was truly blown away by all your helpful emails & comments with words of wisdom for living with a guy. Who knew that blogging was all that it took to prep for big life changes?
I figured it’d be selfish to keep all your amazing advice to myself, so I’ve put together highlights from reader feedback. It’ll be helpful to keep in mind as I pack up and move into cohabitation, and hopefully this will serve as a quick & easy reminder for your own living arrangements as well!

These are all such great tips. I couldn’t agree more with the first one. It’s all about picking your battles!
These really are words to live by! I’ve been living with my husband for about three years, and I’m still learning how sometimes holding my tongue on the more insignificant things can be beneficial!

Super words from everyone. I think giving space is indeed so great, because it keeps you holding your tongue and choosing your battles. Sometimes just walking out of the room for a moment to collect your thoughts can help, because sometimes you come back and realise the argument wasn’t really worth it. Sometimes you just need space to realise you are a partnership and you have to hear the other out and come up with a solution together. Create a team where your equal with everything and keep interested in the other’s opinion on things. It will be so much easier and be open and honest always!! xx
Love this! Since I’m moving in with my boyfriend too, I’m definitely keeping this advice in mind!
I love this! My bf Scott and I just moved in together three months ago! It hasn’t been smooth sailing but it has been totally worth it!
I think separate bathrooms and sharing living expenses is key 🙂
Great blog!

I don’t live with my boyfriend yet but I definitely agree with the separate closets/bathrooms/tv= happiness theory 🙂 good luck!

Great advice roundup! Such an exciting step! 🙂
I love all of these- especially love the quote from Emma. I’ve been surprised by how difficult living with a partner can be sometimes… but on the flip side, it’s also one of the most fun things I’ve done. You just have to let the little things go and be sure to say thank you! (even when something isn’t done the way you would do it.)

Congratulations Emily 🙂 These are great advices from some very wonderful ladies! I especially love Emma’s tip – it’s so true (letting the little things go)! I’ve been living with my Fiance for a year or so now, and you really learn a lot – not only about your partner but yourself also!

I love all of these quotes. Living with a guy is SO much easier than living with a roomie. I think it’s a slumber party with your best friend every night! I tell my husband that and he laughs at me. Maybe he thinks differently… 🙂
