As a Community Manager, I’m always on the lookout for great social media campaigns. When I saw a series of rug posts by West Elm on Instagram, I was immediately impressed. The photos were simple, to the point, and all held captions that started with, “Postcard from New Delhi”. They were interesting, different from other posts that brands typically do, and helped to tell a great brand story. For instance, did you know that the majority of West Elm rugs are handwoven and hand finished? I had no idea.
These photos have stuck in my mind since. How cool is it that they let us into the inner workings of rug making? Days later, as I’m searching for new decor additions for my apartment, guess where I thought to look first? Yup, West Elm.
Are any Chicago-based bloggers attending The Everygirl’s one year anniversary party tonight? Shoot me a message – Ashley and I are swinging by and I’d love to meet you!

This is such a great campaign that gets its message across without being obvious. I have a West Elm rug and also had no idea it was hand woven. I definitely have a new appreciation for it now.
I wish I could go to the everygirl event!
Oh and LOVE your profile pic, so cool girl!
This is such a great campaign–West Elm always does well, I think. I didn’t know you were a community manager…that’s so cool!

Hi Emily — thanks for the kind words! To be clear, the majority of west elm’s rugs are handwoven — but there are exceptions! Also, this: http://whatshouldwecallsocialmedia.tumblr.com/post/43492334403/when-someone-writes-a-positive-article-about-my

West Elm rugs are the best. I have been dying for the zebra one…it would be perfect in our living room but we have to get the puppy to stop peeing on the one we have now. Just ready to take that risk on a new on yet! đŸ™‚

I did not know that, but they are beautiful, and I love area rugs. If I had the space and the money, I’d have dozens.
