Grace and Josephine’s Shared Kids’ Room Decor Reveal
Is there anything sweeter in life than sisters sharing a room?!
It’s been the coolest thing watching Grace and Josephine’s relationship grow as they’ve gotten older, but especially since sharing a room, they’ve gotten undeniably closer. They’re not just sisters and best friends, but living partners who are tackling learning to share their environment, room, and things very well. There’ve certainly been adjustments — we have teachable moments on the daily — but overall I’m so proud of how they’ve adjusted and embraced the change!
I like to think that setting up their room to be one they really love has helped in the adjustment.
Our approach was to involve them both as much as possible and be really open about all the changes. Keeping them a part of the process was great because they felt like they had a choice in all decisions — from how their room looked, to how their combined things were set up.
We took our time with the transition and did important “prep work” together, like sorting through their toys and donating half, and organizing their closet and dresser in a way that made sense for them. They got to help pick out their own special decor items for the room, including their pink comforters, bunk beds (which are separate beds currently because we feel like Joey is still a bit too young), and rugs. We’ve also been very open and clear about their room’s “rules” — things like picking up after themselves, putting dirty clothes in the hamper, and making their beds every morning.
Even baby brother was involved in the process — his “present” for them at Christmas was the star banner that hangs on their wall, to “thank them” for sharing so that he could have his own nursery!
What resulted were two little girls who were excited about sharing and who have made the adjustment fairly seamlessly!
I’m so excited to share their room with you today!
We took our time with it, and with baby almost here it’s finally somewhat completed. I say “somewhat” because is a room ever really done!? No way. 😉
As is common with little ‘ol me who loves to play around with decor, I already have many things I want to add on or change – including a fun mirror on one of the walls. We also will be making those beds into what we bought them for — bunk beds — once Joey is a bit older. But all that will come eventually – for now, it’s darling, perfect for my little ladies, and so Grace and Joey! (Can you tell what their favorite color is?! They’re such girly girls, ha!)

Hi there! This may be an older post, I’m not sure, BUT I am wondering if you could share the shade of pink that you used on the walls?
Beautiful job here!!
