Kicking Fall To The Curb
And just like that, wheeeewsh, it’s gone.
I took these photos last week, when the leaves were still decorating the ground and some even lingered on branches. You wouldn’t even recognize the same street today. In fact, I’m typing this while watching snow fall onto an already-accumulated inch on the ground, and this is our third snowfall in less than a week!
I’m always amazed by how fast fall comes and goes. September is warm and inviting, October is lovely with all the colors…and then November happens. Branches are naked. It’s all very…monotone. Winter’s coming. (Shamelessly dropping that Game of Thrones reference for my fellow nerds.)
It all seems to happen abruptly. Not to hate on this month too much — it’s the one for gratitude, after all — but, like, let’s all be honest here. It’s kind of ugly in the Midwest during November. Ha.
However, once it snows, that all changes. There’s really no sight like snow covered trees. It’s breathtaking, especially when the sun glistens just right, or your met with a quiet street as it all falls. There’s something magical about it.
So, right now I’m in that odd zone where I’m actually loving my view, but scratching my head about how it is that I still need to rake my leaves. Hmmmm. By the way, I attempted to do so tonight. Have you ever tried to rake mounds of leaves with snow on the ground? I will tell you how it went by telling you how long it lasted: 2 minutes.
Screw the leaves. Let’s do this, winter.
