Sweater: ASOS New Look cable knit. (Less thank $50!) Love the pom pom detailing on this one. | Booties: Studded strap western ankle booties. Lookalikes for the popular Chloe booties but won’t break your wallet! | Jeans: Levis 501 skinny jeans. Classics! | Bracelet: Double stretch bracelet | Earrings: Garden girl black floral studs | Scarf: Past season, but this and this are great options! | Sunglasses: Quay blush sunnies – similar here!
I typically reserve bright red for lips or nails, but there’s just something about the color that makes for a refreshing twist, which is something I’ve been trying to embrace more of lately. Turn a few heads, you know? If you’re wondering what the motivation is there, the answer is that there really is none, besides being in my early 30s and finally confident enough to DGAF on the regular. Red’s a hue that’s intimidating to some (and I won’t lie to you, I like it in moderation), but it’s also one that in my humble opinion should be embraced more. Especially during this season, which brings me to a key point of this post: This look would be perfect for Christmas day. Comfy, but with some stylish flare.
This bright cable knit is such a fun item — a little cropped, crew neck, ribbed cuffs, and under $50! Love it paired with a plaid scarf during this season, but I’ve also worn it on its own, and even color blocked with a blush skirt. Paired with the right things it becomes a fresh option for fall or spring!
These jeans are a new addition for me; I love them because they’re flattering, perfectly distressed, and a little bit “Mom jean” but in a good way. I especially like that they seem to cover up the fact that I’ve been having too many glasses of wine as of late in honor of the season. And so for that particular reason I shall say, “Thank you very much, Levi’s” and will keep on keeping on.
Speaking of the holidays, can you believe Christmas is, like, tomorrow?! (Okay, fine, 4 days away. But that basically means it’s tomorrow.) If you follow along on Instagram, you may have seen that I took a quick work trip to California for a few days this week to film a commercial for work. It was nice being in the sunshine, and while on set we had some amazing experiences, but I was truly exhausted after it all. Travel in the midst of the end of year madness is a lot to throw into the mix. (On that note, thanks for bearing with me while things are a bit more quiet than usual around here. I had high hopes of really knocking it out of the park this season, but then life took over. Whomp whomp.)
Anyone else planning on taking some time to relax a little over the next few weeks? We drove into Michigan last night and will be here until New Years weekend, and I plan on taking some time to reset. (Heads up: Have a few more posts planned over here in between now and then, so be sure to check in again!) Blog traffic during this time of year has historically been pretty low, so I’m planning on embracing it. Turns out, we all like turning off.
I’ve got a post all about new years in the works, but in the meantime, it’s worth noting that I want to jump into 2018 with a bang. I’ve got lots of ideas and thoughts and plans for the year ahead. Which is something I’ve said here before, but really, 2018 is going to be my year. I just feel it.
In the meantime…I’ll be saying yes to all of the sweaters and comfy jeans. Because you gotta start big plans somewhere.

Love it! Whenever I wear red, I get so many compliments, so I’ve started wearing it more. (I’m actually wearing a red sweater today!) Looking forward to throwing a little holiday get-together on Saturday and then enjoying a relaxing couple of days. Happy Holidays!
