I’m currently putting together my resolutions for 2019 (something I’ll share with you soon!) and have been reflecting about the next year, what my top goals are, and all that is realistic to obtain. It got me thinking about this past year, and whether I did all that I set out to do.
So, do I? Did I do everything that I set out to in 2018, and find wild success along the way? In a lot of ways, yes! But professionally speaking, frankly, the answer is no. Ha. Not yet. And given we only have a few weeks left to this year…I’m guessing some of those goals may need to be called a wash and transferred to 2019. (I’m realizing some were far too aggressive, it should be noted.) But, all that is cool because…
I went for it. I started my journey toward building my own business and brand, which was a total pivot from the path I was on prior. And I’m really proud of that.
Even with just having 2 months under my belt of being an entrepreneur, I feel like I’ve learned more professionally than any other time period in my life. There’s something to be said about just diving in. Make a splash and then sink or swim, you know?
I am working on some much longer/more in depth posts coming soon, including some lessons learned so far about being an entrepreneur, how I stacked up to my personal expectations in 2018, and all that I want to do in 2019. But, in the meantime, as you’re contemplating your personal goals for the upcoming year, I’d like to share a quote that I find so motivating.
Be the girl who decided to go for it.
What is your “It”? Do you want to write a book? Go on more dates? Start a family? Travel more? Save money? Start a blog? Spend more time with your children? End a job to dive into another?
Whatever your “it” is, one thing is certain. It all begins with that decision to go for it. Devise a plan. Start somewhere, even if it’s baby steps. Explore that passion. Do what it takes to make it happen for yourself.
I really believe that if you’re that person – that girl who decided to go for it – you will be happier. I’m a living example of that. Because, no matter what failures or lessons learned may come your way…regardless of success, challenges, and meeting (or not meeting!) standards…at least you are out there TRYING. Which is, in many cases, more important than the “it” itself.
Call me hippie dippie….but I really believe that the universe recognizes the effort. Sees and feels your energy and drive. And, thus, conspires with you to make it happen.
…While you’re out there going for it, may I suggest pairing a cute sweater with a midi skirt (Shop adorable finds here!) and over the knee boots this winter? I love this combination for cooler temperatures because it’s a great way to bring winterized style to a look that is typically reserved for Spring. A little style trick I’ve been doing lately is adding a simple bandana to sweaters – it’s so easy and yet brings just the right amount of classic style! Throw a chunky scarf over your shoulders, too, because especially in the winter…more is more!
