2013 has come to an end. I think I speak for us all when I say what happened?! The saying, “Blink of an eye” has never rang more true. During the days of high school and college, where lazy summers and long breaks were around every corner, time seemed plenty. An endless resource. In fact, I even wanted it to go faster. When I was 15, I wanted to be 16. When I was 16, I wished for 18. At 18, it was 21. Milestones of car driving and 21st birthday bar hopping hazed my vision of time’s value. What an amazing thing it is. Now, in my mid-twenties, I look back on wishes of hurried experiences and kick myself. What I wish now is for time to slow down, just a little, just for a minute, so I can soak up everything in the right way.
Because the older I get, the more I realize how incredible “another year gone by” truly is. 365. The number of days in a year almost sounds minuscule. But if you stop and think about all that 365 days entails, you realize the change, opportunity, and growth they hold. Every year. Every day. Every minute.
I feel like a new year has started before I was able to really take in & enjoy the amazing things that happened in the one before. And so, I’ve concluded that what I really want for 2014 is to live in the now. To be grateful, every moment, for this wonderful life that I live.
So, what about resolutions? The truth is that my resolution list is almost identical to last year’s. As I reflected on this I realized that the past year was so busy that I didn’t stop to take time for the little things. The goals I wanted for myself were forgotten in the hustle & bustle of life.
Sorry to get somewhat deep & profound in this post, but I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately on personal dreams, goals and “what I want to be when I grow up”, and the biggest conclusion I’ve come to has in fact been the simplest all along. Time is a profound thing. On the first day of the new year, I want to keep that thought in the forefront of my mind.
With that, my dear readers, I leave you with one simple wish: May you make 2014 the best one yet.

I always tried to rush time too. I have zero interest in heading back in time now, but I’m definitely working on being more present every day. Hope you had a great NYE!

Happy new year! I feel the same way! There isn’t enough time anymore. It was so easy to wish time away when we were teenagers now I’m wishing for more time! To make the most of the little things and be in the moment is so important! Great post! Reflecting on life is always a good thing!
