This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks.Alright, ladies. This one’s for you! Let’s chat about something that we’re all-too familiar with, yet hardly ever speak about. Periods. That monthly occurrence that, for me, always seems to come without warning and with a vengeance.
Heavy emphasis on that whole “comes without warning” part. While my period regularly happens, it’s not super consistent. Whereas some women know like clockwork the days it’ll arrive, that’s not the case with me. I know the general time period, sure, but the exact day and time? No dice.
It’s usually a “OH! Hey there!” moment. A nice little surprise, if you will. Except, unlike other surprises, it doesn’t come paired with balloons. Nope. This one comes with a bit of a mess and often it happens when I’m in meetings or somewhere in which proper prep is the last thing on my mind. Yikes.Insert pads here. I’ll be honest with you and tell you that I was never a pad wearer before having kids. However, I wore them constantly for a month or so after delivering my babies. I won’t go into detail, but any women who’s had a kid knows that there’s a lot going on down there after when you’re healing, and pads basically become your best friend.
My first period after Josephine was when she was about 10 months old. (Side note: Did you know that you don’t have your period when you’re breast feeding? I didn’t know that before having kids!) So, I’ve basically only had a few periods since, and I’m still figuring out how to tackle them with all the changes that are still happening to my body post-baby.
My periods sans-baby have been coming with some adjustments and new side effects. I used to have cramps, but now they’re way more painful. (I’ve even been close to passing out because of them!) I used to have periods that lasted for 4 – 5 days, and now they’re nearly 7 days. And, I have more spotting in between. TMI, right?! Sorry.
I have a point in telling you all this, which I get to below. Because of the sporadic nature of things down there, I’ve started to incorporate Always Radiant from Walmart into my routine. When I’m around period time, I’ll grab a pad and proactively wear it, which makes things significantly less stressful during the days when I’m not quite sure if my little friend will make an appearance.
Of course, all that makes wearing white during the summer a heck of a lot easier! I’ve evolved to always having a supply of pads in my purse, ready to use if I need. On the days when I’m close to my period but not sure if it’ll come that day, these bad boys (er…good girls?) are my go-to.
A little trick for all the ladies our there who, like me, love wearing white but need a few precautions to do it well. Anything to avoid a potentially super embarrassing situation, right?! There are a few things that I really love about this product.
First, the FlexFoam absorbs 10 times its weight, giving you up to 10 hours of worry-free protection. 10 hours! Not bad, right? When I wear these, I honestly forget they’re even there; they’re super comfortable, and are 100% leak and odor free. Recently, two new sizes have been added so that you can find your perfect fit for your size. Speaking of sizing, did you know that 60% of women wear the wrong size pad?! I definitely was one of those prior to using the Always Radiant & Walmart sizing selector tool, which was super helpful. Last but certainly not least, the new packaging is sophisticated and stylish.
The more you know, my friends. PS – How cute is that tumblr and clutch (with a planner that fit inside, too)?! Always & Walmart sent them along to pair this post with. I’m all about adds that help to make my day easier, which these certainly do in addition to the pads! If you’ve had a baby, has your period evolved? It’s been an interesting side effect of pregnancy that I haven’t heard addressed much!
Baby or not, do you incorporate period-related solves into your routine? Especially in the summer months, where white is constantly on rotation, this trick comes in handy!
:: Big thanks to Walmart & Always Radiant for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own! ::
