The Top Trends For Fall 2019
Does anyone else feel like the moment it hit September, temperatures dropped a solid 20 degrees? In Michigan we went from consistent 80+ degree days to 65-and-sunny ones. I’ve been excited about the changing of seasons for a few weeks now (Check out 15 Gorgeous Floral Dresses For Fall!) but I’ve got to say, I’m really feeling it lately. Especially when it comes to dressing — bring on the layers and the top trends for fall!
Of course, with the changing of seasons comes new trends to note! Curious to what the top trends for fall are this year? Here they are!
Plaid
Plaid seems to emerge every year during fall/winter, and for great reason. It just screams “Embrace the cool temps”, doesn’t it?! I love this print because it’s fun to mix and match, and can easily be worn on its own. Don’t be afraid to go bold and have fun with plaid — rather than stop at throwing a plaid button down on, why not pair it with a plaid blazer or even pants?! Go all in on this one, because this is one of those trends that you can’t lose to invest in.
Greens
From evergreen to emerald, shades of green are the shades of the season. Green dresses, blazers, pants, skirts, shoes, you name it – green will be everywhere. Grab a few pieces and prepare to turn heads. Don’t forget to embrace monochrome and mix different shades of green together!
Greys
Raise your hand if you’re a capsule wardrobe lover, because this one’s for you! Grey is the new black, which is so nice for anyone who loves to embrace trends but doesn’t feel comfortable in loud colors or patterns. Grey on grey is very in right now, or even just simple grey accents as a nice addition to an outfit. I love grey for its timelessness and it seems to always just make an outfit work.
Animal Print
You guys know I love me a fabulous pop of leopard or snakeskin! This trend was huge in the winter, and it’s still going strong. (Here’s a post on How to Wear Snakeskin Boots, if you’re interested!) Animal print is one of the best ways to be on trend right now. Wear it as an accent or make an entire outfit of it, you sassy minx you.

Also — a huge thank you to Tribe Detroit for help with prop styling and allowing me to shoot these looks at their amazing location! If you’re in the metro-Detroit area, you must check them out. They have an incredible space that is perfect for creative work!
A Note On Quality Over Quantity
One quick note: I’m the type of shopper who loves to buy quality over quantity — pieces that are both on trend but also work well as wardrobe staples year after year. With that in mind, I styled the below looks with this season’s top trends for fall in mind, using pieces that could work throughout additional seasons as well.
Every product is linked below the image, but be sure to also scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post for a big round up of all items shown. If you’re new to any of these trends, or find some (such as green or animal print) particularly intimidating, I suggest to grab one item and start slow. See how many ways you can mix and match that item to make it work for you!
