…Ever have those days where you just can’t?
You know, the ones where you wake up and you’re running late, everything’s a blur, and the last thing on your mind is doing your hair. I have them on the regular, especially with a baby on the way and kiddos in the mix! Recently, I chopped off inches from my hair, and so I’ve been practicing ways to do shoulder length hairstyles that look cute even with limited time to get ready.
I’ve found lately that on those rushed days in particular, I am a huge fan of leveraging hair accessories to create a more pulled together look. What I love about accessories is that you can really have FUN with them, and they’re super easy. Here are some easy and simple ways to jazz up your hairstyle if you’re in my boat and always looking for fresh ideas!
(PS – In all photos I’m wearing my Free People Afterglow Mock Neck Sweater. I can’t get enough of it right now!)
6 Hair Accessories To Turn Around A Bad Hair Day (Especially for those looking for shoulder length hairstyles!)
Accessory #1: Headbands
Headbands are my jam lately. Whether wearing my hair up or down, they help to create a more pulled together look. Here I’m wearing a knotted headband, but I also love plush options like this!
Accessory #2: Bandana Scarf
Isn’t this one from Vera Bradley so cute?! I love the mint-based colors. What’s great about bandana scarves is that they’re so versatile. I wear them in my hair, on my purses, and of course around my neck. A girl can never have too many!
Shown below are two ways to style this while putting your hair up — with a ponytail, or with a messy bun. Both work! (Also shown is a bandana scarf from Sezane – they have such beautiful, french-inspired options!)
Accessory #3: Scrunchie
The 80s are back, baby! A scrunchie is an on-trend way to easily tie in a little color to your hairstyle. I love that they make even a messy bun look a bit more intentional.
Accessory #4: Winter Beanie
When all else fails, add a beanie, especially on days where you may need a hair wash but don’t have time. I love this super-soft option from Vera Bradley – the color is so pretty!
Accessory #5: Scrunchie WITH Scarf
I can’t tell you how much I love these, because they’re so easy to style and also look beautiful! It’s the best of both worlds with the ease of a scrunchie and design of a bandana scarf, all in one.
Accessory #6: Pearl Barrettes
A bit of class meets a bit of trend. I love wearing multiple pearl barrettes together to create a fun and almost whimsical look that’s still very polished! Below, I showcase a way to wear pearl barrettes with shoulder length hairstyles worn down and up.
