There’s been a hint of fall in the air, and I’ve been facing the reality that moments of basking in the summer sunshine are coming to a close for the remainder of the year. Does anyone else consider Labor Day weekend the official end of summer? I know technically it’s September 22, but it just starts to feel different once August ends.
There’s a crispness to the air. The golden hour starts to come noticeably earlier. Every coffee shop screams “Pumpkin Spice Latte” from their storefront windows. Scarves and booties and chunky sweaters emerge.
Despite my disbelief that this summer is coming to an end, I’ve got to say, I’m getting excited for a new season. September is such a lovely month, isn’t it? It’s the perfect weather — still warm, but not too humid — and the reds, yellows, and oranges of the changing leaves usually make their debut. Though leaves will soon be changing, for me, everything’s coming up roses. Quite literally, with this dress.
Why invest in a great white wrap dress now? Because, they still work when the weather chills, and there’s nothing better to add to your closet than a piece that can be worn during multiple seasons. Paired with booties and a jacket, it’s a fresh take on fall. Then when spring comes around again, it’s perfect to start channeling things in bloom.
On this particular day it was overcast and the morning was brisk, so I paired it with a brown leather jacket and blush slides. I’ve needed to wear my glasses recently because my contacts have been bothering my eyes, so my clear frames have been my besties. I actually really love them – they bring a hipness to an outfit.
Before I close this post, I want to take a moment to express my deepest condolences for those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I’ve been constantly glued to the news, watching the coverage, and am just heartbroken at the destruction. So many people have lost their homes, some are even facing serious medical emergencies, and it’s just awful. I noted this on my Instagram Stories yesterday, but I’d like to encourage all readers to take a moment and donate to the American Red Cross, if you’re able. There are many ways laid out on their site, but one of the easiest is via text — simply text “REDCROSS” to 90999 and $10 will be donated. (It’s just taken from your phone bill, super easy!) Every little bit counts.
