Everything’s Coming Up Roses

There’s been a hint of fall in the air, and I’ve been facing the reality that moments of basking in the summer sunshine are coming to a close for the remainder of the year. Does anyone else consider Labor Day weekend the official end of summer? I know technically it’s September 22, but it just starts to feel different once August ends.

There’s a crispness to the air. The golden hour starts to come noticeably earlier. Every coffee shop screams “Pumpkin Spice Latte” from their storefront windows. Scarves and booties and chunky sweaters emerge.

Despite my disbelief that this summer is coming to an end, I’ve got to say, I’m getting excited for a new season. September is such a lovely month, isn’t it? It’s the perfect weather — still warm, but not too humid — and the reds, yellows, and oranges of the changing leaves usually make their debut.  Though leaves will soon be changing, for me, everything’s coming up roses. Quite literally, with this dress.

Why invest in a great white wrap dress now? Because, they still work when the weather chills, and there’s nothing better to add to your closet than a piece that can be worn during multiple seasons. Paired with booties and a jacket, it’s a fresh take on fall. Then when spring comes around again, it’s perfect to start channeling things in bloom.

On this particular day it was overcast and the morning was brisk, so I paired it with a brown leather jacket and blush slides. I’ve needed to wear my glasses recently because my contacts have been bothering my eyes, so my clear frames have been my besties. I actually really love them – they bring a hipness to an outfit.
Before I close this post, I want to take a moment to express my deepest condolences for those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

I’ve been constantly glued to the news, watching the coverage, and am just heartbroken at the destruction. So many people have lost their homes, some are even facing serious medical emergencies, and it’s just awful. I noted this on my Instagram Stories yesterday, but I’d like to encourage all readers to take a moment and donate to the American Red Cross, if you’re able. There are many ways laid out on their site, but one of the easiest is via text — simply text “REDCROSS” to 90999 and $10 will be donated. (It’s just taken from your phone bill, super easy!) Every little bit counts.

Are you excited for the changing season ahead? From your summer pieces, what items will you be keeping in your closet as the weather starts to cool? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

I’ve been so bummed that summer is reaching its end, but this post definitely makes me more excited for the autumn! I never though about pairing booties with a maxi dress, but you’ve managed to make it work so well! I love the print of the dress too:)

We just had some very hot sunny days in Holland, which I absolutely loved since I’m on my summer break now. But unfortunately, the winds have turned and it is raining all day today! I think fall is a very cozy season, I can turn on the candles early to make the house warm and cozy. I love fall! And I do love your post as well, you look amazing in that rose dress!

It’s so horrible what’s happening in Texas right now. My thoughts are there xx

But this is an amazing dress! I really love it 🙂 I always bury my white clothes after it’s getting more and more fall weather since it’s raining all day every day in Finland now.
